Preparation:
The room should be warm, without a draft, work on a warm surface, so the wax will cool more slowly. If the countertop is cold, you can place a towel, wooden board or heated mat under it.
Pour the wax into a wax melter or water bath container and melt it to a liquid state
Spread the mat, clean it from dust, if necessary, lubricate it with vegetable oil (optional).
Prepare all the tools in front of you
Preparation of wax:
To the melted wax, add colorant. The amount depends on the desired color. If you want to achieve a bright color, use a well-pigmented dye, because if too much is added, the wax may become more brittle.
Stir the wax well to melt the dye.
Manufacturing process:
(a) Stem:
spread the green colored wax on the mat and let it cool slightly
Cut out a 15x5 cm rectangle from the slightly cooled wax.
cut the wick and twist it into the wax, pressing the layers of wax tightly so that there is no space between them.
smooth the seam
b) inflorescence:
spread the yellow colored wax very thinly over the mat and let it cool slightly
Cut 2 cm wide ribbons from the slightly cooled wax.
cut the long edge of the ribbon into the thinnest possible individual flowers, thus obtaining a ribbon with a “fringe”.
twist the stem into the ribbons, so that the top of the inflorescence at this stage is about 2 cm in diameter.
fluff up the florets with your fingers, if necessary, use a scalpel to separate the clumped florets.
to give the inflorescence a more rounded shape, trim off the florets that are poking out with scissors.
c) leaves:
spread the green-colored wax very thinly over the mat and let it cool slightly
Using a knife or scalpel, cut a “fence” out of the wax.
Wrap the lower part of the inflorescence in this “fence”, smoothing out any irregularities and joints
Using a molding stack or the back of a knife, make incisions on the green part of the inflorescence.
cut out small triangles with a knife or scalpel and glue them as shown in the video, bending them in different directions.
d) tinting
Using a brush, tint the leaves with green liquid wax dye, if necessary, you can darken the green with a little brown.
tint the stem with burgundy or a mixture of pink and yellow.
If desired, the middle of the inflorescence can be lightly tinted with yellow dye.
