Silicone Molds
Working with different mold types

1) 1) Dense, smooth silicone (blue mold in the lesson).
  • Dense, smooth silicone; easy to use and doesn’t require special techniques.
  • If the cut is rough, you may end up with a visible seam on the candle that will require extra cleanup.

2) Pink silicone molds
  • Thin, flexible silicone that flips inside out easily, so demolding is simple.
  • Usually do not require cutting.

3) Very stiff silicone molds (the egg mold in the lesson)
  • Has low elasticity, so demolding candles with fine details or thin sections is difficult. Best for simple shapes (ball, egg, cube, etc.).
  • Tends to adhere to crystallizing wax and can leave marks on the candle; pairs well with beeswax.
